MEO Australia Limited (MEO) is a mid-stream gas processor and explores for oil and gas. The company is involved in the development of the Tassie Shoal Methanol Project (converting natural gas into methanol) and the "Timor Sea LNG Project", which has been developed as an extension of the innovations and finding derived from the development of the Tassie Shoal Methanol Project.

MEO was listed on the ASX 27 March 1998. Its head office is situated in Melbourne, Victoria. The company was renamed to its current name from Methanol Australia to MEO Australia Limited in January 2007.

MEO operates in the Energy Sector, focusing on the production of methanol and gases. Methanol is used mainly in the chemical industry, in the production of formaldehyde and acetic acid. This leads to the manufacture of many products, including resins, adhesives, synthetic textiles, silicones, paints and automotive fuel enhancers. Natural gas is used for electricity generation, a growing segment of energy demand.

MEO has aquired an oil and gas opportunity by obtaining a new petroleum permit, NT/P68. The permit is close to Tassie Shoal and depending on the gas quality, provides additional natural gas feedstock to MEO's gas processing projects.

Major competitors would be small to large industrial gas and chemical companies, domestically and overseas. Customers for methanol and gas range from domestic companies in the Energy Sector to export markets in Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan.
