SDL, based in Perth, Australia, is engaged in the exploration of iron. The company’s major asset is the Mbalam Iron Ore Project in the Republic of Cameroon in Central West Africa. The permit is 100% owned by Cam Iron SA, in which SDL has 90% ownership, with the remaining 10% held by local Cameroon investors, with a portion held in trust for the Mbalam community.

The company listed on the 24 November, 1993. In September 2007, Gindalbie Metals (GBG) and Sundance Resources (SDL) announced that they have reached an agreement to merge to create a new iron ore group.

SDL operates in the Materials sector, specialising in exploring for copper, gold, nickel, and other base metal exploration. The increase in demand for all metals and subsequent increase in metal prices has improved the attractiveness of exploring for these metals.

The project in Bolivia, South America consists of three massive contiguous concessions with a total area of 66,000ha. At the Chacarilla project, there is reported copper resources of some 18.9mt @ a grade of 2.44%Cu, an extensive data base of in excess of 60,000 metres of diamond drilling and
an ever increasing data base of confirmation RC drilling (now in excess of 7,500 metres).

SDL's major customers would include the retail, wholesale and international markets. Its competitors consist of other mining companies such as Mount Burgess Mining (MTB). The mining industry is a global industry, which is highly competitive. Most oil and metals are sold into the global spot markets, whilst gas, coal and iron ore is typically sold under long term contract arrangements with utilities, large industrial users and steel plants.
